Managing Director, Principal Risk Officer
Suresh is the Principal Risk Officer where he heads, develops, and provides Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Basel advisory consulting services to Kamakura clients worldwide and provides internal oversight in the development of products to insure compliance with global regulation. He joined Kamakura Corporation in 2010 as Managing Director for EMEA and re-joined Kamakura Corporation from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, where he was Principal Operations Officer responsible for the development of risk management practices in the financial services sector in emerging markets.
His work includes practical application of advanced financial analytics to solve crucial risk management issues, on assignments involving latest solutions in the field of financial engineering including advice on term structure models, valuation strategies, V@R, IRRBB, IFRS9 and credit risk. He provides consultations on diverse issues as risk management practices, derivative valuation methods, and asset-liability management techniques.
Prior to his current role, he was Vice-President & Director, Strategic Consulting Services, at Fiserv. In this role, he was responsible for risk projects around the globe, and managed development on the enterprise wide risk management-consulting arm of Fiserv Risk. He joined Fiserv in 1998 from ABN AMRO Bank, where he was responsible for the conceptualization, development, and implementation of Treasury Trading and Profitability Systems to support the Group’s ongoing Executive Information Programme. Before this, he was the Regional Management Information Co-coordinator of The Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) from 1994-1997. He was responsible for the ALCO and profitability processes, involving the analysis of inherent interest rate and liquidity profiles.
Suresh has conducted numerous workshops relating to market and credit risk, Basel II and III, balance sheet management, and profitability measurement in the United Kingdom, the United States, Singapore, China, Taiwan, Switzerland, and indeed in several other countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Suresh is a featured speaker in the workshops and seminars organized by the Financial Stability Institute, a division of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and has authored several papers on liquidity management and alternative methods of liquidity measurement.
Suresh is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Commerce. His interests include P G Wodehouse, skydiving, and Indian classical music.
